DisCover #16

I loveLoveLOVE book covers as much as I love the books guys might know that I decided to make a new feature (called DisCover..geddit?!) where I'll be highlighting 3-4 books covers every week! Then, you can ooh and aah as much as you like in the comments box!

Hollow Pike by James Dawson

When Lis London moves to Hollow Pike, she's looking forward to starting afresh in a new town, but when she sees the local forest she realizes that not everything here is new to her. She's seen the wood before - in a recurring nightmare where someone is trying to kill her! Lis tells herself there's nothing to her bad dreams, or to the legends of witchcraft and sinister rituals linked with Hollow Pike. She's settling in, making friends, and even falling in love - but then a girl is found murdered in the forest. Suddenly, Lis doesn't know who to trust anymore...

THIS. This may be one of my favourite covers of the year. One: it's PURPLE (purple FTW). Two: her HAIR. and the BIRDS. Three: JUST LOOK AT IT.

I'm so excited for this book! I follow James Dawson on Twitter and he's awesome, and I have a feeling Hollow Pike is going to be exactly the same!

Shatter Me by Taherah Mafi

Juliette hasn't touched anyone in exactly 264 days. The last time she did, it was an accident, but The Reestablishment locked her up for murder. No one knows why Juliette's touch is fatal. As long as she doesn't hurt anyone else, no one really cares. The world is too busy crumbling to pieces to pay attention to a 17-year-old-girl. Diseases are destroying the population, food is hard to find, birds don't fly anymore, and the clouds are the wrong color.

The Reestablishment said their way was the only way to fix things, so they threw Juliette in a cell. Now so many people are dead that the survivors are whispering war- and The Reestablishment has changed its mind. Maybe Juliette is more than a tortured soul stuffed into a poisonous body. Maybe she's exactly what they need right now.

Juliette has to make a choice: Be a weapon. Or be a warrior.

In this electrifying debut, Tahereh Mafi presents a world as riveting asThe Hunger Games and a superhero story as thrilling as The X-Men. Full of pulse-pounding romance, intoxicating villainy, and high-stakes choices, Shatter Me is a fresh and original dystopian novel—with a paranormal twist—that will leave readers anxiously awaiting its sequel.

Shatter Me is a book I've wanted to get my hands since I heard about it. Yeah, I probably say that a lot, but it is. I think one of the reasons why is because of the author, Taherah Mafi. If you follow her on Twitter, or read her blog, or even KNOW her, you'll know that she's an amazing person. Her tweets never fail to make me smile and you really *need* somebody like that on your life. Especially if you're like me and don't smile all that much. She connects with her readers and I think that's a really important trait for author's to have. So yeah, I'm really looking forward to this!

The cover was released yesterday by MTV's Hollywood Crush and I'm honestly not completely sure about what I think. Don't get me wrong, I think it's utterly gorgeous, but I'm not sure if it *works*, if you know what I mean. I'm not totally sure if the model is right for the cover. It kinda looks like the just sorta stuck her on the front of it. The tagline is kickass though, and I'm loving how the sparkly bits are sort of half and half, one side is dark and one light. Ooh, and I love the title font and the line that goes through the middle!

Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi

Exiled from her home, the enclosed city of Reverie, Aria knows her chances of surviving in the outer wasteland—nicknamed The Death Shop—are slim. If the cannibals don’t get her, the violent, electrified energy storms eventually will. In this dystopia, even the very air she breathes could kill her. Then Aria meets an Outsider named Perry. He’s wild, dangerous—a savage. He’s also her only hope.

Perry needs Aria, too. She alone holds the key to his redemption. And their unlikely alliance will determine the fate of all who live under the never sky.

Debut author Veronica Rossi is accumulating fans from all over the globe—the book has already sold to more than twenty countries. It’s not surprising that foreign rights for this title have been flying off the shelf. It’s a tantalizing romance in any language.

The blue on this is stunning! The lights shining in the sky look really cool and pretty. And the font is so awesome! The little swirls are a great addition to the title. And WOAH the model! She looks fiesty. Wouldn't want to get on the wrong side of her!

What do you think?

  1. I love the last two. I'm starting to get a little bored of dystopian, but I'm definitely getting Shatter Me. And knowing me, I'll get Under the Never Sky, too.

  2. All of these covers are awesome! Can't wait unit these books are released! :D

  3. Ooh! The Under The Never Sky cover looks stunning - I agree, I love the blue colours :D
